- Mechanical Engineering Contribution to Environmental JusticeDescription: Participants will learn about the connection between mechanical engineering and environmental justice. I will discuss the current environmental issues and solutions in our society. I will briefly discuss the two case studies: Flint, MI Water Crisis and Jackson, MS Water Crisis.3
- Gas Power CyclesDescription: Participants will learn about gas power cycles, the laws of thermodynamics, gas turbines, and clean energy. I will discuss the environmental strategies for the automobile companies: Toyota, and Nissan, along with the aerospace companies: Lockheed Martin, and Honeywell. This lecture will provide a connection between the different concepts used in engineering and environmental justice.3
- Air PollutionDescription: Participants will learn about air pollution and understand the different causes of air pollution. I will briefly discuss the two case studies: New York/New Jersey Harbor Deepening Project and Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision. I will also discuss more about the connection between the production of concrete and environmental issues. Lastly, I will briefly discuss sustainable green buildings and how mechanical engineers contribute to sustainability.3
- Water PollutionDescription: Participants will learn about water pollution and understand the different types of water pollution. I will discuss one case study: BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. This lecture will provide an understanding of how mechanical engineers contribute to clean water pollution.2
- Mechanical Engineering Contribution to Environmental Justice Overview and Final ExamDescription: Participants will review all topics shown in this course. Overall, participants will be able to understand the overall lesson of this course.4
