Indigo Rockmore
Indigo Tracey Ann Rockmore is the Quality Engineering Onboard Team Lead for the Boeing Commercial Airlines Total Quality Functional Core Group in Everett, Washington. Her role is to recruit, onboard, retain, and build strategies to prevent attrition in the Total Quality workforce.
As a native Philadelphian, Miss Rockmore began her engineering journey at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA by enrolling in the Dual Degree Engineering Program. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry and continued her education at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor to earn a B.S.E. in Environmental Engineering. Her STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics) passion began with environmental justice and urban engineered systems, such as vertical gardens, and hydroponics.
After unique internships with the Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management, Oak Ridge National Laboratory Chemical Sciences Division, and the Department of Defense Joint Munitions Command; she secured a Design Engineering position with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Indigo was a Civil and Environmental Design Engineer for the Mississippi Valley, Rock Island District. She built a desire for advocacy in protecting communities along the Mississippi River, thus she took an Environmental Planner temporary detail. After gaining many project management skills, she decided to begin a Quality Engineering career at the Joint Munitions Command working with small and medium caliber ammunition.
Outside of the workplace, Indigo served as a lead educator for the National Society for Black Engineers Summer Engineering Experience for Kids, Spelman Robotics, and Pre-College University’s Environmental Justice Program. Currently, she serves on the board of the Quad Cities STEAM on Wheels educational organization as support personnel. In addition to her intermittent merit badge counselor duties for the Philadelphia Boy Scout of America Troop 1719 and Girl Troop 1313, she is now in the process of developing her own non-profit to educate youth about environment justice using STEAM. She enjoys learning about the natural environment, travelling, and globally educating youth about STEAM. She is thankful to serve on the Pre-College University Board, and learn from the Team!
